One of our favorite Parks at Walt Disney World in Orlando Florida is Hollywood Studios. A big part of that is the new Star Wars and Toy Story Lands they added over the past several years. This last trip to Hollywood Studios we got to experience some new thrills.
The Rise of the Resistance
The brand new ride at Star Wars Galaxy's Edge is the Rise of the Resistance. This ride is spectacular even before you get in line. So to start off, in order to even get on the ride you have to get a Boarding Pass. The Boarding Pass can be obtained through My Disney Experience App under the Virtual Queues section. You can join the virtual queue at 7:00 am est or 1:00 pm est if you have a valid park ticket and park reservation for that day. Unfortunately, we missed the 7:00 am virtual queue so we tried again at 1:00 pm and luckily we were able to get the Boarding Pass. All Janaina wanted for her birthday was to go on this ride, so I was so excited we were able to get the boarding pass that I cried!!! Once you have the boarding pass it gives you an estimated time of when your boarding pass will be called so you can go enjoy your day at the park until that time. Once your boarding pass is called, you have about an hour to report to the line for the ride. The ride itself is out of this world. Disney really outdid themselves with the entire experience! I do not want to give the whole ride away, but if you want to see it, check out the Youtube video below.
Mickey & Minnie's Runaway Railway
The new Mickey & Minnie Runaway Railway is by far one of my new favorite rides at Disney World. Disney definitely outdid themselves with this ride and it shows as a new favorite when you see the line extending out into the park. If you are wanting to check out this ride, I would advise you to go to the park early, as soon as it opens and head straight over to get into the line as soon as you enter the park. As the day goes on and more people enter the park the line gets longer and longer. We were pretty lucky that a cast member gave Nina something called a "Magical Moments" pass for her birthday. The pass went on our My Disney Experience app just like a fast pass and granted her front-of-the-line access to one ride of her choice. Unfortunately, it wouldn't work for The Rise of the Resistance, but it did work for Mickey & Minnie's Runaway Railway. Nina was so excited to be able to jump to the front of the line to get on this ride and as expected, she loved every minute of it!
Savy's Workshop
Savi's Workshop is a way to step inside the magic of Disney and hand-build your very own lightsaber! A reservation is required for this activity which can be made on the "My Disney Experience App" and it costs a whopping $219.99 plus tax per lightsaber. While the experience was pretty amazing, I am not sure if it was worth the hefty price tag, especially when you have multiple children. The experience is advised for children ages 5 and up, but little Elianna did it at age 4 and she was able to follow along and enjoyed the experience. In true Disney form, the experience comes to life and takes you on a journey out of this world. We had a lot of fun and we are glad we got to experience it, but still not sure if the cost was completely worth it. Although, one thing that most people are aware of when taking a Disney vacation, almost everything is a bit overpriced, but its also the most magical experience of your life.
