PURO SURF IN EL SALVADOR --- Boys Only Trip

The boys took an epic trip to Puro Surf Hotel & Performance Academy in El Zonte, Chiltiupan, El Salvador. It was a chance for them to really iron out some necessary surf skills at the performance academy. Gabriel learned so much from the this trip, a lot of that is due to the unique coaching styles of founder Marcello Castellanos.

The Puro Surf Hotel & Performance Academy has all you need for an epic surf trip or some intense surf training. The hotel offers single, double or even triple rooms, dorms, a deluxe king room or even a tree house suite. The boys booked a double room for the two of them which was plenty of space, they even have some pretty neat surf board holders in the rooms. We are looking forward to going back to Puro Surf Hotel & Performance Academy in El Salvador in January 2022 as a family and we will check out the tree house suite and let you know what we think.

The on site restaurant at Puro Surf Hotel & Performance Academy has delicious food, open air seating and ocean views. All the food is fresh and sourced from local farms and fishermen. Gabriel could not stop talking about how delicious the Pina Colada smoothies were, so you may want to check one out while your there. The girls and I are looking forward to trying out some fresh strawberry daiquiris when we are there.

Puro Surf Hotel & Performance Academy has a unique training academy suitable for all, from any one who wants to learn how to surf all the way to the professional looking to iron out some skill sets. The facility and training program was founded by Marcelo Castellanos who is by far the best coach the boys have trained with. He teaches the proper land work and technique that is necessary to get you where you want to be out in the water. I thought it was really special that they have an on site skateboarding bowl to practice technique, carving up and down the wave, and new tricks. They also have a long beachside pool where you can learn or practice your paddling and duck dive.

Puro Surf Hotel & Performance Academy is not only great for surfing, but also great for a little getaway. Between the yoga, workout facility, fresh food and relaxing pools, you don't have to be a surfer to enjoy Puro Surf Hotel & Performance Academy.

The boys happened to be in El Salvador during a pretty big swell. The waves were well over 10 feet tall and heavy, and the boys were not yet prepared to shred it on those waves. They spent more time out of the water than they would have liked due to the swell. The larger swells typically run March - October each year. Thankfully we are blessed to be going back to Puro Surf Hotel & Performance Academy in January 2022 as a family. The waves in January and February are much smaller and more docile for those who are not chasing big waves.
