Surfing

We uprooted our lives, sold all of our homes and gave away most of our possessions, so what was next for us??? We decided to learn how to surf. Luiz grew up in Brazil where he frequented the beach for family trips and surfing in the summers. Luiz wanted to find his roots and get back to his first love of the ocean and waves, which is what encouraged him to share the sport of surfing with us.

While traveling through Cocoa Beach, Florida, The DSquad Family searched out the best surf school in the area and came across Pure Aloha Surf School which is run by Hawaiian native and veteran, Chacy Eveland. All of the Pure Aloha instructors were great to work with and they all have a vast knowledge of the sport of surfing. They were able to get all of our family up on a surfboard and surfing waves in the first lesson. After a series of 10 sessions, we were paddling out, catching the waves, riding them in, and turning along with the wave. We all progressed pretty quickly, especially Gabriel. Gabriel has now decided to pursue the sport of surfing professionally including seeking his spot for the 2024 summer Olympics.

Now we are all on the hunt for bigger waves to surf, we have traveled to Cabo San Lucas Mexico where we were able to catch 4 to 7 ft waves. We are currently planning our next surf adventure and we can not wait to grow our skills around the world.

The video above shows you the beginning of our surf journey. You can see how we all started out from day one. We have all since developed our surfing skills these last few weeks and can't wait to show you the progression in the next surfing video we create. Even our little four-year-old, Elianna has developed into a little grom!
